Tom Joyner Foundation® to Sponsor “TJ2K Walk/Run”
at “Family Reunion Weekend” in Orlando
(Dallas, TX – June 16, 2008) Get your walking or running shoes ready to participate in the first ever “TJ2K Walk/Run” during the ‘Tom Joyner Family Reunion Weekend presented by Allstate’ on August 30th on the grounds of the Gaylord Palms Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
Benefiting the Tom Joyner Foundation, the “TJ2K Walk/Run” is a fundraiser open to anyone in the Orlando community and to those who have already purchased a package for the weekend of live music, seminars and family fun. Individuals and teams are encouraged to raise money for the 10-year-old Foundation, which helps keep students in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
“The ‘TJ2K’ is another way for us to bring families’ and friends together, get some exercise and help out a good cause,” said Tom Joyner, whose nationally syndicated radio show reaches 8 million listeners every week in 115 markets. “You can walk it, you can jog it or you can do both. Just register and come on out. You know you’ll have a good time. “
To learn more and register, interested participants can go to Joyner’s website, BlackAmericaWeb.com . Once registered, participants will get an official “TJ2K” T-shirt and they also will be able to create a personalized page that can be used to raise money for the Foundation.
On August 30th, registered participants will begin their walk – about 1.2 miles - at 6:00 am through the spacious and colorful environs of the Gaylord Palms Resort.
Founded in 1998, the Tom Joyner Foundation has raised more than $55 million to help keep students enrolled in black colleges. It has assisted more than 14,000 students and worked with more than 100 HBCUs. To learn more about the Foundation, go to BlackAmericaWeb.com. |
