Position:    Manager, Special Events

Overview:

Dallas-headquartered Broadcasting & Internet Company targeting the African-American community, parent company of The Tom Joyner Morning Show & www.blackamericaweb.com, is seeking an experienced individual to manage major consumer events for urban media company.  Candidate will execute new and current company events, including live concert type events, community oriented initiatives, and travel destination events.

Responsibilities: 

• Highly focused on the execution of deliverables to consumers and sponsors for company events.
• General knowledge of assigned events; will manage key aspects of events.
• Identify & research event locations for review by Director, Special Events.
• Identify potential vendors, competitive bids through development of RFPs.
• Assist with draft copy for written materials for marketing.
• Assist with draft copy for scripts on site.
• Develop detailed production schedule for key aspects that contribute  to each event.
• Recruit and manage volunteers to ensure activities & deadlines are met.
• Troubleshoot real & potential pitfalls to event deadlines & recommend course of action.
• Assist Director, Special Events with management of logistical needs of events, including catering & audio/visual needs, room decor, parking, etc.
• Assist Director, Special Events with management of sponsor fulfillment (logistics, shipping of materials, conference calls, sponsor onsite packages, etc) – may have specific accounts assigned to them.
• Evaluate & analyze results from each event for ROI and future planning.
• Provide initial recap elements and outlines for assigned events to sales (photos, write-ups, etc).
• Work with Director, Special Events to reconcile account(s).
• Able to travel 25%.

Requirements:

• Strong communication and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. 
• High level of creativity to develop unique events.
• Exceptional level & experience maintaining consumer satisfaction.
• Experienced in developing and managing Event budgets.
• Detail oriented and ability to work under pressure and assess priorities.
• Ability to travel on a regular basis and available to work nights and weekends.
• Ability to identify & resolve problems with sound & accurate judgment.
• Ability to effectively direct and supervise event personnel.
• Strong Microsoft Office, Word, Excel & PowerPoint skills.

Preferred Experience/Education: 

• BA/BS degree in a related field.
• 3+ years experience in event planning and promotions with a strong emphasis in entertainment.
• Urban Radio, Artist Relations &/or Event Production experience preferred

Position:    Feature Producer, TJMS

Overview:

Dallas-headquartered, Broadcasting & Internet company targeting the African-American community, parent company of The Tom Joyner Morning Show & www.BlackAmericaWeb.com, is seeking a Feature Producer to produce special features for the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

Responsibilities:

• Provide research data on proposed guests for morning show and to include on BlackAmericaWeb.com website.
• Write and oversee the production of the daily “Little Known Black History Facts”.
• Write and oversee production of the “Thursday Morning Mama” feature.
• Write and oversee production of the “Real Fathers Real Men” feature.
• Provide writing responsibilities for special projects.
• Provide writing responsibilities for special projects such as short form newscasts and short packages for morning show broadcast and/or BlackAmericaWeb.com website. 
• Provide special project production assistance for post event video presentations including The Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage and Family Reunion.
• Perform writing and production projects assigned by Tom Joyner.

Requirements:

• Extremely organized and able to effectively prioritize tasks while being attentive to details.
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• High level of creativity and ability to develop show concepts.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word & Excel and the Internet.
• Excellent research skills.
• Strong technical skills to include specific programming software & Microsoft applications.
• Must have flexibility to travel.
• Familiarity with the Reach Media/Tom Joyner Morning Show brand.

Experience/Education:

• BA/BS college level degree.
• Experience with basic audio editing equipment.
• Knowledge of basic remote recording and sound editing equipment.
• 2+ years working as a producer in the broadcasting industry.  Urban broadcasting experience preferred.
